ATM Cash Van Driver Steals ₹17 Lakhs in Hyderabad Heist

Hyderabad, June 23: In a shocking incident, an ATM cash van driver absconded with ₹17 lakhs in Hyderabad. The theft occurred on the main road of Rain Bazaar-Santosh Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the IS Sadan police station, while cash was being transported to refill the ATM.

According to police reports, the driver allegedly executed the theft by cleverly planning the operation. After seizing the cash from the box inside the vehicle, he abandoned the van and fled the scene on a two-wheeler.

Following the incident, the IS Sadan police registered a case and initiated an investigation. Police teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track the suspect’s movements.

Special teams have also been formed to apprehend and arrest the accused. Authorities suspect the involvement of an insider and have begun identifying potential accomplices of the driver.

In a related development, a sub-inspector in Hyderabad was caught red-handed accepting a bribe. V. Narasimulu, stationed at Gandhi Nagar police station, was apprehended while soliciting ₹1 lakh in bribes, of which he accepted ₹50,000.

Officials from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the sub-inspector around 5:30 PM on Tuesday. The ACB stated that the accused officer demanded the bribe to issue a station bail and to refrain from harassing the complainant regarding a case filed against him.

A statement from the agency revealed that ₹50,000 in bribes were recovered from the officer as per his instructions. The ACB has presented the accused officer before the Principal Special Judge for ACB cases.

The investigation is ongoing, and the ACB has kept the complainant’s details confidential for safety reasons.
