Chandigarh, July 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Chandigarh on July 17. In anticipation of this visit, the Chandigarh Traffic Police has released a traffic advisory for the public. Authorities are urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on designated routes and to utilize alternative paths.
According to the traffic police, traffic may be diverted or restricted from the Chandigarh Barrier to the PEC Light Point, extending to the Sector 2/3/10-11 intersection due to VVIP movement. Citizens are advised to refrain from using this route until 3 PM on that day.
The police also indicated that other major roads in the city may experience temporary traffic stoppages or diversions as needed during the Prime Minister’s visit.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, residents are encouraged to adopt alternative routes to avoid congestion and inconvenience. Additionally, people are advised to keep an eye on the official social media accounts of the Chandigarh Traffic Police for the latest updates related to traffic.
Guests, invitees, and government officials attending the event have been instructed to park only in designated areas.
The traffic police have warned the public that legal action will be taken against anyone parking or driving in bicycle tracks, pedestrian paths, and no-parking zones, with vehicles subject to towing.
The Chandigarh Traffic Police has appealed for cooperation from citizens, expressing regret for any inconvenience caused by the restrictions and diversions implemented for safety and traffic management.
It is noteworthy that PM Modi will inaugurate the 110-year-old Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station, which has been renovated under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He will also launch another train service between Jalandhar and Varanasi.
