Terrorist Aftab Ansari Found with Smartphones and Cash in Kolkata Jail

Kolkata, August 29: A significant security breach has occurred at Kolkata’s Presidency Jail, where notorious terrorist Aftab Ansari, the prime accused in the American Center attack, was found with prohibited electronic items.

During a surprise raid by jail authorities, three smartphones, including an iPhone, a Wi-Fi device, a pen drive, and ₹31,000 in cash were discovered in Ansari’s cell.

According to jail sources, the raid revealed these alarming findings, prompting an immediate response from the authorities. A jail officer has filed a complaint at Hastings police station based on the incident. Consequently, Kolkata police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. They are looking into how restricted electronic devices made their way into the high-security cell and how Ansari was using them.

This is not the first instance of mobile phones or SIM cards being found in Ansari’s possession while incarcerated; he has previously been caught with a SIM card as well.

Aftab Ansari is currently serving a sentence for his role in the 2002 terrorist attack on the American Center in Kolkata. Since the BJP government took charge in West Bengal, law enforcement has become increasingly proactive, taking strict action against crime and criminals across the state.
