Tashkent, August 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute at Yanghi Uzbekistan Park in Tashkent on Saturday, honoring the country’s rich history, heritage, and national spirit.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs shared on the social media platform X, stating, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered floral tributes at Yanghi Uzbekistan Park, paying homage to Uzbekistan’s rich history, heritage, and national spirit. This occasion highlighted the deep and longstanding friendship between India and Uzbekistan.”
During the tribute, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was also present, and both leaders viewed artifacts that reflect Uzbek culture and history.
Earlier, upon starting his two-day state visit to the Central Asian nation, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to President Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome at Tashkent Airport.
President Mirziyoyev welcomed PM Modi at the airport, symbolizing the significant growth in friendship between the two nations over the past 12 years.
After arriving in Tashkent, PM Modi shared pictures on X, stating, “I arrived in Tashkent with a warm welcome from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. I am grateful for this special gesture. This is my fourth visit to Uzbekistan, reflecting the depth and growing momentum of our bilateral relations.”
During the visit, PM Modi will engage in delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev, focusing on advancing the shared development visions of ‘Developed India 2047’ and ‘Uzbekistan 2030.’
Before the trip, PM Modi remarked, “In recent years, there has been remarkable progress in the India-Uzbekistan strategic partnership. I look forward to discussing with President Mirziyoyev how to deepen our cooperation in trade and investment, digital connectivity, defense, and energy, while advancing our shared vision for a developed India and Yanghi Uzbekistan.”
