Patna, March 10: BJP leader Shah Nawaz Hussain has criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC), stating that the party is aware it will face a significant defeat in Bengal. He claims TMC is intentionally raising controversial issues due to its lack of achievements in governance. Hussain accused TMC of targeting the Election Commission and the Special Investigation Report (SIR), alleging misconduct towards the Chief Election Commissioner. He described TMC as a completely chaotic party and asserted that Mamata Banerjee’s exit from the elections is inevitable.
Regarding Nitish Kumar’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha, Hussain praised the Bihar Chief Minister for his prosperous journey and the excellent work achieved under his leadership, emphasizing that the pace of development in Bihar will not slow down. He further attacked TMC, stating that everyone knows the respected Advani could not stand in a particular photo, which is why he was seated. This was the reason for the image being presented, and TMC is deliberately publicizing it.
As preparations for the West Bengal Assembly elections intensify, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is on a two-day visit to review the election process. TMC President and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is protesting against the large-scale removal of names during the SIR. She has been targeting the Election Commission for its actions.
On March 9, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, conducted a comprehensive review of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections.
During the review, the commission engaged with representatives from recognized national political parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party (Marxist), Indian National Congress, and National People’s Party, as well as state parties like the All India Forward Bloc and All India Trinamool Congress, seeking their suggestions.
Most political parties appreciated the extensive SIR being conducted by the Election Commission and expressed full confidence in its capabilities. They urged the commission to take strict measures to prevent any form of aggression or intimidation towards voters during the upcoming elections. The parties called for peaceful, free, and fair elections, requesting the commission to ensure security for every voter and to deploy a significant number of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to prevent violence. Concerns were raised about the potential use of crude bombs, illegal weapons, money, and muscle power by certain parties.
