New Delhi, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Ministry of External Affairs announced on September 4 that three more Indian nationals have been rescued from Trishuli Bazaar in Nepal after devastating floods struck the region last week. Among those rescued is a five-year-old child. This brings the total number of rescued Indian citizens to 169.
In an update shared on social media platform X, the Ministry confirmed that by 8:30 PM on Friday, three additional individuals were saved from the flood-affected area. The rescued include Abhijit Suresh Pawar, Deepika Abhijit Pawar, and five-year-old Samarth Abhijit Pawar. The Indian Embassy in Nepal is assisting in their return to India via air.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry also reported that India has sent approximately 95 tons of relief supplies and 54 personnel to assist with rescue and relief efforts in the Himalayan nation following the sudden floods.
During a press briefing in New Delhi, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India will continue to provide assistance based on the needs of the Nepalese government. Additional supplies, including forensic kits and Bailey bridges, are planned for shipment in the coming days.
Jaiswal highlighted that two Indian aircraft had already delivered 21 tons of relief materials to Kathmandu. To date, seven aircraft have transported nearly 95 tons of supplies. In addition to the materials, 54 personnel have been dispatched to support relief and rescue operations, including 30 tunnel rescue experts, 19 forensic specialists, and a five-member medical team. These teams are currently on the ground working alongside Nepalese authorities.
The Ministry also noted that 275 Indian citizens remain unaccounted for, while 1,907 Indians have safely crossed from China into Nepal. According to official sources in China, there are currently no Indian travelers stranded in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
