New Delhi, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar recently visited Ukraine, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring ways to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde emphasized the significance of this visit, stating that India consistently advocates for peace and stability worldwide. He noted that Jaishankar’s meetings were aimed at strengthening ties between India and Ukraine across various sectors, including trade.
During his discussions, Jaishankar also presented several options for resolving the war between Ukraine and Russia. Hegde remarked that this visit aligns with India’s ongoing commitment to fostering global peace.
In contrast, Congress leader Surendra Rajput raised concerns regarding the current state of India’s foreign policy under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He acknowledged support for peace efforts in the war but criticized the BJP for compromising India’s foreign policy, suggesting that it has lost its credibility on the global stage.
Rajput pointed out that BJP representatives had previously claimed that the Ukraine-Russia conflict was halted, questioning the effectiveness of Jaishankar’s visit. He stated that while efforts for peace are welcomed, the current administration’s approach to foreign relations has diminished India’s standing internationally.
