
Beijing, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : A formal delegation for the 20th Asian Games has been established in Beijing. This team comprises 1,274 members, including 815 athletes—404 women and 411 men. They will compete in 369 events across 38 sports. The average age of the athletes is 24 years.
Among the participants, 58 athletes represent 17 different ethnic minority groups. Notably, 548 athletes are making their debut at the Asian Games, while 306 have prior experience from the Olympics or previous Asian Games.
The delegation includes 36 Olympic gold medalists from 13 sports, such as swimming, synchronized swimming, badminton, boxing, artistic gymnastics, trampoline, and shooting. Star athletes include table tennis players Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, divers Chen Yushi and Wang Tsongyuan, gymnast Zou Chinyuan, canoe sprinter Sun Mangya, and weightlifter Li Wenwen, all of whom have won gold medals in both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics.
The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Nagoya, Japan.
