Chennai, April 15: In the IPL 2026 match on Tuesday, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where young batsman Ayush Mhatré showcased his talent. Mhatré’s explosive innings played a crucial role in securing the team’s victory. After the match, CSK batsman Dewald Brevis praised Mhatré’s performance.

In the match against KKR, Ayush Mhatré scored 38 runs off 17 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 6 fours. His performance helped CSK reach a total of 192 runs, leading to a 32-run victory over KKR, who were restricted to 160 runs. Dewald Brevis also contributed with a solid innings of 41 runs off 29 balls.
Mhatré typically bats at number three for CSK, playing a vital role in maintaining or accelerating the team’s run rate. In five matches, he has scored 171 runs, including two half-centuries, with a top score of 73 runs.
Given Mhatré’s explosive batting, cricket experts have frequently suggested that he should open the innings alongside Sanju Samson, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad moving to bat at number three. Gaikwad has yet to perform up to his reputation this season.
