Mysuru, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Former Karnataka minister and six-time legislator Tanveer Sait voiced his frustration on Monday regarding the late arrival of Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah at a breakfast event held for elephant handlers, devotees, and their families in the Mysuru Palace complex during the Dasara festival.
The event was scheduled to begin at 9 AM, but Siddaramaiah did not arrive on time, causing attendees to wait. Annoyed by the delay, Sait left the venue and raised his concerns with the Deputy Commissioner about the event’s organization and the minister’s tardiness.
“Do you not care about time? If time is not respected, what can be done? There is a limit to everything. They can do as they please in other matters, but is it right to make the handlers wait for breakfast?” Sait stated before exiting the event.
Siddaramaiah eventually arrived and served breakfast to the elephant handlers and devotees. He explained his delay by mentioning that he is still settling into his new home in Mysuru, where unpacking is ongoing.
“My mother was not at home, and I was alone without staff. It took me some time to get ready and organize things to reach here. I did not deliberately delay,” he clarified.
Representing the Mysuru region, Tanveer Sait has previously criticized the functioning of the state government led by former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He has been elected six times from the Narasimharaja constituency in Mysuru, first winning a by-election in May 2002 after his father’s passing. He has consistently won subsequent elections, securing his sixth term in the 2023 assembly elections. Sait is considered close to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
Additionally, Sait expressed disappointment at not being included in Shivakumar’s cabinet, as his name was absent from the list of approved ministers by the All India Congress Committee. He was seen as a strong contender for a ministerial position and expected approval from the party leadership in the second phase of cabinet expansion.
According to party insiders, Sait was kept away from a ministerial role to strengthen Yathindra Siddaramaiah’s political future.
