Hyderabad, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revant Reddy made a bold statement on Thursday, asserting that no one can intimidate him and that he is not beholden to anyone. Speaking at the inauguration of a flyover in Hyderabad’s old city, he emphasized that only friendship can motivate him to take action.
During his address, Reddy declared, “I cannot be scared. You can only win me over through friendship. I am ready to do anything for friendship. I am no one’s slave; I am only a slave to friendship.” His remarks came just hours after Kondha Surekha accused him of trying to leverage the Congress high command for his removal from the cabinet.
Following the high command’s approval, Reddy decided to remove Surekha from the council of ministers and sent a letter to the governor regarding the matter. He expressed confidence about his political future, stating, “I need to be with you for the next 25 years. I did not come back to politics to leave.”
Reddy also addressed his personal friendship with Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM. He responded to Owaisi’s suggestion to adopt a more aggressive political stance, saying, “While in opposition, you can be aggressive, but in power, you have responsibilities. You need to be soft and inclusive.”
The Chief Minister acknowledged that as a leader, he could achieve results through sternness, but he prefers to win the hearts of the people and work collaboratively. During his speech, Owaisi highlighted that AIMIM supports the government solely because of Reddy, not the Congress party.
Owaisi thanked Reddy for releasing funds and approvals for development projects in the old city. He noted that the foundation stone for the Chanchalguda-Santosh Nagar steel flyover was laid by the previous BRS government, but construction only began after Reddy allocated funds.
The newly inaugurated four-lane, 3.32-kilometer flyover cost ₹620 crore. Owaisi also praised Reddy for approving ₹2,200 crore to resume stalled metro rail projects in the old city and for a ₹400 crore cable bridge over Mir Alam Tank.
Reddy assured his commitment to the development of the old city, calling it a true representation of the people’s pride. He dismissed allegations against AIMIM and Owaisi, stating, “Some say AIMIM and Owaisi are against the country, but I have seen how they supported the Indian Army during ‘Operation Sindoor.’ We may have political differences, but no one can doubt the patriotism of Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi. They are as patriotic as Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.”
