Koppal, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The fourth day of the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Lingasugur-Ballari foot march concluded on September 4 in Koppal district. The march covered approximately 22 kilometers, starting from its morning location and culminating in Karatagi.
Kicking off the day with a ‘Gau Puja’ in celebration of Krishna Janmashtami, BJP leaders, workers, and supporters participated enthusiastically.
During the march, Karnataka BJP president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra criticized the Congress government, claiming it is lost in its five guarantees while neglecting the basic needs of the poor, farmers, and marginalized communities.
This foot march aims to highlight various state issues and express the BJP’s concerns regarding the Congress government’s policies and performance.
Vijayendra alleged that while the state government focuses on promoting its five guarantees, vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled struggle to receive basic social security benefits. Many beneficiaries have reportedly not received pensions for months.
The state BJP president also inaugurated a new rice-harvesting machine brought by a farmer, engaging in discussions with farmers about mechanization and agricultural challenges.
Near Sindhanur, he interacted with traders from the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC). They raised concerns about additional fees for shop transfers, licensing, paperwork, obtaining bank loans, and high-interest loans.
He noted the lack of basic amenities at the Devaraj Urs Vegetable Market, such as drinking water, toilets, sanitation, and parking facilities, assuring traders that their issues would be raised in the state assembly.
Vijayendra pointed out ongoing problems in rural Kalyana Karnataka, including shortages of doctors and teachers, poor infrastructure, and limited job opportunities.
He called for increased investment in local industries, agro-processing units, small enterprises, and skill-development centers to create jobs and reduce youth migration to Bengaluru and other cities.
Criticizing the Congress-led state government, he remarked that one cannot understand ground realities while sitting in air-conditioned rooms in Bengaluru.
