Morena, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Kailaras sugar mill in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, is set to reopen, as announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday. This initiative aims to provide farmers with better prices for their produce, thereby enhancing their economic conditions.
Yadav made the announcement during a virtual address at the ‘Balram Krishi Mahotsav’ from Sehore. He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving farmers’ incomes through modern farming techniques and supplementary activities like dairy farming. The reopening of the Kailaras sugar mill is expected to significantly benefit local farmers.
Efforts will also be made to boost milk collection through dairy cooperatives in Morena, creating an additional income source for farmers. In a bid to enhance educational facilities, Yadav revealed plans to establish ‘Geeta Bhawan’ in every municipal council of the district, including Morena city.
Morena is a major producer of wheat, rice, oilseeds, and pulses. The Chief Minister urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices. He announced plans to provide 10 hours of electricity daily for farming activities. Additionally, he noted that the state has received a national award in horticulture and is working on a project to provide solar pumps to 3 million people.
This initiative aims to reduce electricity costs for farmers and facilitate irrigation. Yadav encouraged farmers to consider dairy farming and cattle rearing as alternative income sources. He also highlighted that 2026 will be celebrated as the ‘Farmer Welfare Year’ in the state, with zero-interest loans available for farmers and an extended repayment period for Kharif and Rabi crop loans from six months to one year.
The state government is focused on increasing production and productivity, improving quality, reducing costs, and ensuring better prices and income for farmers.
