Tarun Tejpal Found Guilty in Rape Case, BJP Calls for Accountability from Congress

Noida, August 7: Following the conviction of Tarun Tejpal in a 2013 rape case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a verbal attack on the Congress party. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused Congress’s top leadership of consistently supporting individuals accused or convicted of sexual assault and rape. He described this as evidence of Congress’s attitude towards women’s issues.

In an interview, Bhandari stated that Tejpal has been found guilty, and the court upheld the allegations against him. He noted that Congress has long supported Tejpal.

Bhandari recalled that senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh had previously referred to Tejpal as a “soldier against communal forces.” He also mentioned that Congress leader Manish Tewari attempted to portray Tejpal as a victim in 2021.

The BJP spokesperson questioned why Congress’s senior leaders always seem to side with those facing serious allegations of sexual harassment or rape. He argued that this indicates Congress’s insensitivity towards women’s interests.

Bhandari claimed that Tejpal has been a supporter of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. He pointed out that Tejpal had even written a letter to Sonia Gandhi in support of Rahul Gandhi. Now that Tejpal has been convicted, Congress remains silent on the matter.

He accused Congress leadership of failing to respect women, asserting that under the Gandhi-Vadra family’s leadership, Congress has supported those who commit crimes against women.

Bhandari further stated that Tejpal’s conviction and the past support from Congress leaders highlight that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress stands by those who commit crimes against women. He labeled Congress as an anti-women party, demanding that the party provide answers to the women of the nation regarding this issue.
