BJP Leads in Rajasthan Urban Body Elections with 77 Uncontested Wins

Jaipur, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : In the recent urban body elections in Rajasthan, the process for withdrawing nominations has concluded, resulting in 77 candidates being elected uncontested for councilor positions. No opposing candidates remained, prompting the returning officers to issue election certificates to all 77 victors.

According to the latest report from the Election Commission, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved the highest number of uncontested wins, with 44 candidates elected without opposition. These uncontested victories were recorded across several districts, with Chittorgarh leading the way, where six candidates were elected uncontested. Following closely were Alwar and Jodhpur, each with four uncontested wins. Additionally, three candidates from Bikaner, Deeg, and Jalore were also elected without opposition.

In districts such as Sikar, Khairthal-Tijara, Jhunjhunu, and Dungarpur, two candidates from the BJP were elected uncontested. One candidate each from Balotra, Banswara, Beawar, Bharatpur, Churu, Dholpur, Sirohi, Tonk, Rajsamand, Pali, Nagaur, Jhalawar, and Jaipur also won uncontested.

The Indian National Congress secured the second position in uncontested wins, with 16 candidates elected without opposition. Congress saw three candidates win uncontested in Sikar and two in Jaipur, while one candidate each was elected uncontested from Sawai Madhopur, Rajsamand, Nagaur, Kota, Jhunjhunu, Jhalawar, Jaisalmer, Ganganagar, Dholpur, Dausa, and Bundi.

In addition to the two major parties, 17 independent candidates were also elected uncontested, meaning they will directly enter the respective urban bodies without facing an election.

These results emerged after the nomination withdrawal process, finalizing the list of candidates remaining for the urban body elections. Candidates without opponents were declared victorious by the returning officers in accordance with election procedures. The BJP led in uncontested wins, followed by Congress and independent candidates.

The remaining seats will be decided through electoral contests, where the remaining candidates will face off in voting.
