
September 5 (Daily Kiran) : In a remarkable display of solidarity, over 660 million yuan has been raised for disaster relief in Qilong County, located in Shigatse, Tibet Autonomous Region. This fundraising effort coincides with the 11th annual “China Donation Day,” celebrated on September 5. The theme for this year’s event focuses on promoting philanthropic culture for the benefit of the people.
Following a devastating landslide in Qilong County, the Ministry of Civil Affairs quickly mobilized support, guiding 29 internet-based public donation platforms and relevant charitable organizations to respond to the needs of the affected areas.
According to preliminary reports, donations have surpassed 660 million yuan, with individuals making 1.47 million contributions through online platforms, totaling over 50 million yuan.
Since the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan, various sectors of society have contributed more than 2 billion yuan to emergency relief and reconstruction efforts following major natural disasters.
In addition to disaster relief, charitable organizations across the country spend approximately 150 billion yuan annually to support vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, and people with disabilities, as well as initiatives in education, healthcare, and rural revitalization.
