Beijing, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The 2026 World Athletics Diamond League Final kicked off in Beijing on September 5, with competitions starting in the morning local time. In a stunning performance, Chinese athlete Fang Bin secured the gold medal in the women’s discus throw final, achieving a season-best throw of 67.46 meters. This victory came at the expense of two-time Olympic gold medalist Valarie Allman from the United States, who was previously known as Valarie Allman.
This marks Fang Bin’s first title at the Diamond League Finals, ending Allman’s five-year winning streak in this event.
In addition to Fang Bin, another Chinese athlete, 18-year-old rising star Yan Ziyi, is set to compete in the women’s javelin throw final on the morning of September 6. Yan Ziyi has already made headlines by winning four consecutive Diamond League station championships and setting an Asian record of 71.74 meters this year, just shy of the world record of 72.28 meters. If she maintains her performance, she could also claim her first Diamond League Final title at the young age of 18.
