Saharanpur, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, Ajay Rai, expressed his dismay over the recent demolition of a mosque in Saharanpur, labeling the incident as unfortunate. He criticized the state government, alleging that it has fostered an atmosphere of fear aimed at undermining communal harmony.
In a conversation regarding the mosque’s demolition, Rai stated, “This is very unfortunate. The Yogi government has created a climate of fear in Uttar Pradesh with the intent of eroding brotherhood among communities. The public clearly understands that such actions are merely attempts to hide the government’s failures and weaknesses. They aim to create divisions between Hindus and Muslims. With elections approaching, they are inciting tensions among the people.”
Rai emphasized the historical significance of the mosque, noting that it existed long before the construction of the district collectorate. He suspects that the government acted with deliberate intent in this situation.
Additionally, Rai addressed the defamation case he filed against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, revealing that the court has scheduled the next hearing for September 25. He expressed confidence that justice would be served.
“Where is the evidence? Show it to me! That’s why we went to court. I simply asked for evidence. When they failed to provide any, I took legal action. I submitted all my records to the court, including videos and other documentation. If they have any records against me, they should present them in court,” Rai asserted.
Tensions in the region continue to rise as political maneuvering unfolds ahead of the upcoming elections.
