Suspicious Death of Young Bride Sparks Outrage in Jharkhand

Ranchi, May 24: A tragic incident has unfolded in the Girdih district of Jharkhand, where the body of a 26-year-old bride, Lalita Devi, was discovered hanging under suspicious circumstances in the village of Gandey on Sunday. This shocking event has sent ripples of fear throughout the community.

Family members of the deceased have accused her in-laws of dowry harassment and premeditated murder. Following the incident, Lalita’s husband, Pawan Yadav, along with other relatives, reportedly fled the scene. Lalita, the daughter of Jitu Yadav from Pobi village, had been married to Pawan for just one year.

Neighbors discovered Lalita’s body hanging inside her home and immediately alerted the police at the Jamua station and her family. Upon receiving the news, Lalita’s parents and relatives rushed to the village in large numbers. They alleged that Lalita had been subjected to continuous harassment since her marriage.

They claimed that after killing Lalita, her in-laws attempted to stage the scene as a suicide to cover up the truth. Given the sensitivity of the situation, the Jamua police quickly arrived with a team to calm the agitated crowd.

The police removed the body from the noose and took it into custody, preparing a report for a post-mortem examination at the district hospital. According to the Jamua police, the case appears suspicious at first glance, and they are investigating from all possible angles.

Currently, police are conducting raids at potential locations to apprehend the fugitive husband and in-laws.
