Sub-Committee Meeting on Ladakh Issues Yields Positive Outcomes, Says Tashi Gyalson

New Delhi, May 23: The recent sub-committee meeting addressing issues related to Ladakh was described as highly meaningful and results-oriented by BJP leader Tashi Gyalson. He emphasized that the primary goal of the meeting was to find solutions to the concerns of Ladakh.

In an exclusive interview with a news agency on Saturday, Gyalson stated that the discussions held during the sub-committee meeting were significant and focused on outcomes. Although discussions on Ladakh’s issues have been ongoing for several years, a consensus had not yet been reached.

He highlighted that the critical question was how to provide protection and solutions for Ladakh that align with the region’s unique circumstances and the interests of its people.

Gyalson noted that numerous proposals had been presented to the government over the past few years, with each aspect thoroughly examined. The government indicated that some proposals might not be practical in the interest of Ladakh. Consequently, there was a serious discussion on the pros and cons of all proposals. The meeting also delved into issues such as financial viability, maintaining stability in the border region, and developing a sustainable model for Ladakh. He reiterated that the aim was to ensure that the people of Ladakh do not bear an additional burden and can develop according to their needs.

Gyalson further stated that the breakthroughs achieved during the meeting were commendable, with all parties agreeing on some fundamental principles. He mentioned that a detailed draft would be prepared in the coming days. The meeting primarily proposed customizing Article 371 to include Ladakh-specific provisions, ensuring that solutions are tailored to the region’s unique conditions and the needs of its residents.
