
New Delhi, June 24: Singapore’s High Commissioner, Simon Wong, met with India’s Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani on Tuesday.
The discussion focused on enhancing defense cooperation between the two nations. Topics included military exercises, mutual visits, and ongoing dialogues to strengthen collaboration.
During the meeting, Simon Wong congratulated General Subramani on his appointment as India’s CDS.
On social media platform ‘X’, Wong stated, “Today, I had an initial conversation with General N.S. Raja Subramani, the Chief of Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces. I congratulated him on his new role and discussed the long-standing defense cooperation between our two countries. This includes major military exercises, mutual exchanges, and regular dialogues. We also shared thoughts on further advancing this strong partnership under General Subramani’s leadership.”
Last month, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with defense ministers from Singapore and New Zealand during the Shangri-La Dialogue. They discussed strengthening defense relations, enhancing maritime cooperation, and improving information-sharing arrangements.
The Ministry of Defense’s public relations department stated on ‘X’, “During the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh engaged with New Zealand’s Defense Minister Chris Penk and Singapore’s Defense Minister Chan Chun Sing.”
The statement highlighted that these meetings focused on reinforcing defense ties, boosting maritime cooperation, advancing information-sharing arrangements, and reiterating a shared commitment to a secure, stable, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
Rajesh Kumar Singh also met with Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana reception held during the Shangri-La Dialogue.
The Ministry of Defense’s public relations department noted, “Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh discussed strengthening strategic relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during the reception at the Istana.”
