Siddaramaiah Criticizes BJP for Widening Rich-Poor Divide in Karnataka

Bangalore, April 4: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a strong attack on the BJP during a by-election campaign. He accused the BJP government of further widening the gap between the rich and the poor.

Addressing a public gathering, he stated that his government has implemented various schemes to empower marginalized sections of society, spending ₹1.31 lakh crore on these initiatives over the past three years.

Siddaramaiah emphasized that the Congress party is dedicated to the welfare of marginalized groups, including women, Dalits, and minorities. He criticized the BJP’s ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ model, claiming it only benefits corporate entities and exacerbates the divide between the affluent and the underprivileged.

He reiterated that the Congress party has always worked for the poor and the disadvantaged. “We liberated the country, and now it is time for the public to reciprocate,” he said.

Siddaramaiah also pointed out that the BJP has never participated in the freedom struggle and, despite being in power in Karnataka for nine years, has little to show for it.

He criticized Prime Minister Modi for failing to fulfill promises made in 2014, such as bringing back black money and depositing ₹15 lakh in every household.

The Chief Minister urged voters to elect Umesh Meti, highlighting that his father, H.Y. Meti, worked tirelessly for the development of Bagalkot, and it is now time to realize those dreams.

He also announced the establishment of a medical college in Bagalkot, fulfilling one of H.Y. Meti’s long-standing demands.

Siddaramaiah stressed the importance of social justice, affirming the Congress party’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities. He called for efforts to socially and educationally empower every individual to ensure the success of political freedom.
