Shooting Begins for Kalki Sambhal, a Film on Historical Riots in Sambhal

Mumbai, April 14: The shooting of the film ‘Kalki Sambhal’, based on the historical riots in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, has commenced in Chandosi. Producer Amit Jani officially launched the film at S.M. College on Tuesday.

In an exclusive interview, Jani revealed that the film aims to expose the dark chapters of Sambhal’s past. He stated, “This film primarily focuses on the riots in Sambhal and the violence that ensued. It will depict the horrifying events of 1978, including the murders of Banwarilal Goyal and Ramchandra Das. Additionally, it will highlight the historical figures involved, where 184 and later 209 individuals lost their lives brutally.”

The producer further explained that through this film, they intend to confront audiences with truths that have long been buried in history.

He added, “The film will not only cover the past but also recent events from 2024. A significant courtroom scene related to the survey dispute of Harihar Temple and Jama Masjid will be featured, showcasing how the court reaches a decision. Currently, the shooting schedule includes a heated courtroom debate between veteran actors Govind Namdev and politician Nars Gosai. The film will also illustrate how, in 2024, the administration (Chief Minister, DM, and SP) prevented major riots from occurring.”

Concluding his remarks, he mentioned, “The film will be shot across various locations in Sambhal district over the next one and a half to two months. Talented actors like Annu Kapoor, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Vijay Raaz will showcase their skills in this project.”

Directed by Bharat S. Srineth, the film is produced by Amit Jani.
