Shocking Double Murder-Suicide in Lucknow: Man Kills Wife and Sister Before Taking His Own Life

Lucknow, August 20: A shocking incident unfolded in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, when a man fatally shot his wife and sister before committing suicide. The police are currently investigating this tragic case.

Initial reports indicate that a female bank officer was shot dead in broad daylight in the Vivek Khand area of Gomti Nagar. Around noon, the woman was lured outside the ICICI Bank branch, where she was shot after a brief conversation with the assailant, who then fled the scene.

Hearing the gunfire, bank employees and nearby residents rushed to the scene. The woman was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Divya Mishra, who worked as an assistant manager at ICICI Bank.

It is alleged that Divya was shot by her husband, Manas Bajpai, who is employed at the State Bank of India (SBI) in the Jankipuram branch.

Subsequently, it was revealed that after killing his wife, Manas returned home to his residence at Husaria Chauraha in Gomti Nagar, where he also shot his sister. He then turned the gun on himself, ending his life. Manas’s sister has been identified as 28-year-old Tulika, also known as Seeba.

An eyewitness recounted the incident to a news agency, stating, “I was passing by when I saw a young man with two pistols. He talked briefly and then opened fire. When bank employees heard the shots, they rushed outside, but he pointed his gun at them, causing them to retreat inside. After shooting, he fled the scene.”

The eyewitness further noted that the assailant arrived in an auto-rickshaw, which did not have a rear number plate.

ADCP East Amol Murkut confirmed that Divya Mishra was a bank employee in Gomti Nagar. He stated that her husband had been lying in wait and attacked her as she returned from meeting a customer with her colleagues.

DCP Diksha Sharma from East Lucknow reported that the police received information about a woman being shot in the Gomti Nagar area. A police team arrived promptly and transported the woman to the hospital, where she was declared dead. Witnesses indicated that her husband was responsible for the murder.

DCP Sharma added, “Shortly after, we received reports of a man who had shot his sister and then himself. Upon reaching the scene, we identified the man as Divya’s husband.”

Authorities have also discovered a WhatsApp status in which Manas expressed his intentions regarding the suicide.
