Debris Found from Missing Medical Plane Traveling from Bermuda to Boston, Search for Six Continues

Boston, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed the discovery of debris from a medical aircraft that went missing while traveling from Bermuda to Boston. Communication with the plane was lost during its flight on Saturday. There were six individuals on board.

At approximately 2 a.m. local time on Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) alerted the Coast Guard that contact had been lost with the Gulfstream G100 aircraft, tail number C-GRJP. Following this, aerial and maritime teams from the Coast Guard began searching near the coast of Nantucket. The aircraft was operated by Latitude Air Ambulance, a Canadian medical evacuation company.

Officials reported that the search for the six people aboard the missing medical transport plane is ongoing. Debris found near Nantucket has been confirmed as belonging to the lost aircraft.

The Coast Guard indicated that the six individuals included four Canadian citizens and two from Bermuda. Authorities have informed their families about the situation.

The Coast Guard stated, “The debris found has been confirmed as that of the missing plane. The search for the six individuals onboard continues. The Coast Guard vessel William Sparling will maintain search operations throughout the night.”

According to flight tracking data, the aircraft experienced a rapid descent before losing contact. It fell from an altitude of approximately 24,000 feet to around 11,000 feet before communication was lost.

Audio recordings from air traffic control released on LiveATC.net reveal that the pilot reported an electrical issue and declared an emergency as the plane approached the coast. An air traffic controller was heard asking the pilot if they were proceeding without visual reference, to which the pilot’s response was unclear. However, the controller later confirmed that the pilot had declared an emergency.

Canadian Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon stated that officials are closely monitoring the situation. He expressed his condolences on social media, saying, “During this incredibly difficult time, my thoughts are with everyone on board the aircraft, their families, loved ones, and colleagues. We are closely monitoring the situation and working with relevant authorities while the search and rescue operation continues. I thank all the rescuers involved for their ongoing efforts.”
