
Pithoragarh, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : In the scenic mountains of Uttarakhand, Indian and Mongolian forces have come together to enhance their military capabilities during the ‘Nomadic Elephant-2026’ exercise. This collaborative training, which took place from September 20 to October 3, allowed soldiers from both nations to engage in various modern battlefield activities, including tactical exercises, intelligence and surveillance operations, drone handling, cybersecurity, and technical demonstrations.
The exercise also featured heliborne operations, where troops practiced the retrieval and medical treatment of injured soldiers, alongside marksmanship and specialized military skills. This experience enabled both armies to coordinate effectively and respond swiftly in diverse situations. The 18th edition of ‘Nomadic Elephant’ concluded successfully in Pithoragarh, marking a significant milestone in Indo-Mongolian military relations.
The training was not limited to weaponry and combat drills. Indian and Mongolian soldiers focused on understanding each other’s operational procedures and emphasized improving coordination during joint missions. The initial phase of the exercise, held from September 20 to 23, involved integration activities where troops familiarized themselves with each other’s military processes and training methodologies.
From September 24 to 30, the joint training and tactical exercises intensified, with soldiers practicing various strategic maneuvers. The final phase on October 1 and 2 allowed military units to test their training in real joint exercises, showcasing their effectiveness in collaborative operations, which included activities with drones, helicopters, and cybersecurity drills.
In addition to military training, recreational activities fostered camaraderie among the soldiers, strengthening bonds through friendly competition. The closing ceremony highlighted the rich cultural and military heritage of both nations, reinforcing the long-standing friendship and cooperation between India and Mongolia.
Defense officials noted that the successful conclusion of the 18th ‘Nomadic Elephant’ exercise exemplifies the strengthening of defense ties between the two countries. The training not only enhanced joint operational capabilities but also deepened mutual trust, understanding, and the exchange of experiences.
