Jamshedpur, August 20: A police team faced violent resistance while attempting to shut down a loud DJ in the Babudih area of Jamshedpur late Wednesday night. The incident resulted in damage to a police vehicle and left Assistant Sub-Inspector Krishna Kumar injured, necessitating his transfer to MGM Hospital for treatment.
According to police reports, a complaint was received via Dial-112 regarding loud music and dancing in Babudih. Responding to the complaint, the police arrived at the scene around midnight and instructed the DJ to stop playing music. Tensions escalated when a group of young men confronted the officers, leading to a physical altercation.
Allegations suggest that the youths attempted to assault the police officers. During the chaos, ASI Krishna Kumar’s mobile phone was snatched, and some individuals reportedly tried to seize a police rifle. As the situation deteriorated, rocks were thrown at the police vehicle, causing further damage. In response to the escalating violence, police resorted to minimal force to disperse the crowd.
Five individuals were taken into custody and transported to the police station. Following the incident, police presence in the area was increased due to heightened tensions. Relatives of those detained, along with some local residents, visited the Sidgora police station, questioning the police’s actions and alleging that the detained individuals were mistreated. The police have initiated an investigation into these claims.
Police officials stated that they are investigating the attack on the police team, obstruction of government duties, stone-pelting, and vandalism of a government vehicle. They are also working to determine the number of individuals involved and their roles in the incident.
