Ranchi, August 8: The second round of discussions between JPSC-JSSC candidates and the government is set to take place today at 10:30 AM at the State Guest House in Ranchi. An eight-member student delegation will engage directly with the government-appointed representatives.
The students have been protesting since July 5, following irregularities highlighted in the 14th Civil Service Preliminary Examination conducted by JPSC on July 2. Their indefinite sit-in has now entered its 15th day. In solidarity, student leader Devendra Nath Mahto has been on a hunger strike for the past six days.
For the memorandum submitted to the government, the platform has designated an eight-member delegation, including Chandan Kumar, Dinbandhu Mandal, Ravi Shankar, Prem Kumar, Pooja Kumari, Ramvatar Mahto, Bimal Kumar, and Amit Kumar Sharma.
Previously, a formal meeting between the government and students took place on Friday evening at the Rajkiya Atithi Shala in Morhabadi. The meeting lasted approximately one and a half hours and concluded at 9:25 PM. Student representatives described the discussions as positive, although no final agreement was reached.
The students have made it clear that their protest will continue until a conclusive agreement is achieved and their demands are met.
The talks involved a five-member government team and a ten-member student delegation. The students presented their demands point by point, reiterating calls for transparency in recruitment examinations, a fair investigation into irregularities, and improvements in the examination system. They expressed hope for concrete actions from the government.
Four ministers participated in the discussions on behalf of the government: Chamra Linda, Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Deepika Pandey Singh, and Sanjay Prasad Yadav. Development Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh was also present at the meeting.
