Jaipur, August 8: On the occasion of National Handloom Day, Jaipur MP Manju Sharma visited the Handloom House located on Khardak Singh Marg in New Delhi. She purchased khadi and handloom products, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).
Sharma bought khadi fabrics for herself and her family, along with various products from the khadi and village industries sector.
She stated that India’s handloom tradition is not merely about fabric craftsmanship; it symbolizes the country’s rich cultural heritage, self-reliance, and the dedication of millions of artisans. Each thread of khadi reflects the spirit of indigenous production, self-respect, and the essence of a self-reliant India.
Referencing Prime Minister Modi’s appeal on National Handloom Day, she urged citizens to make an effort to purchase handloom and khadi products. This appeal extends beyond mere shopping; it is directly linked to the livelihoods, dignity, and economic well-being of millions of weaver families across the nation.
Sharma further noted that if every household adopts khadi and handloom products even on a few occasions each year, it would significantly boost the rural economy and strengthen India’s traditional industries.
