Hull City Signs Norwegian Midfielder Jens Herto-Dahl on a Five-Year Deal

Hull, August 8: Championship club Hull City has signed Norwegian midfielder Jens Herto-Dahl from Eliteserien side Tromsø on a five-year contract. He will remain with the team until 2031. The transfer fee for the 20-year-old player has not been disclosed. This marks Hull City’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window.

Herto-Dahl has established himself as one of Norway’s most promising young midfielders. He is comfortable in both central and deep midfield roles. The player has made 105 senior appearances for his hometown club, scoring 19 goals and providing 11 assists.

Joining Tromsø’s academy at the age of six, Herto-Dahl progressed through the youth ranks and made his first-team debut at 17, contributing to a league win with HamKam. He played 89 matches in Eliteserien, helping Tromsø secure third place in Norway’s top flight during both the 2023 and 2025 seasons.

He also gained experience in European competitions, participating in UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League qualifying matches.

The midfielder left Tromsø midway through the 2026 Eliteserien campaign, where he had scored seven goals in 14 league matches, making him one of the division’s top scorers at the time of his transfer.

Herto-Dahl expressed his excitement about starting a new chapter in England. In an official statement, he said, “I am very happy. This is a huge club, and I am genuinely excited to play here. Everything happened very quickly once I heard about the club’s interest.”

He mentioned that leaving his childhood club Tromsø was an emotional decision but felt it was necessary. “The last few years with Tromsø have been some of the best years of my life. I will always be grateful. I felt I needed a new challenge, and moving to Hull is the right step for me. I’ve heard great things about the atmosphere here. I can’t wait for that experience.”
