Uttarkashi, June 7: The search for Babita Pandey, a female trekker who went missing in the Dayara Bugyal area of Uttarkashi district, continues to intensify.
Despite eight days passing since her disappearance, authorities have yet to find any clues. In response, the district administration has ramped up the search efforts, now involving a specialized team from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering to effectively navigate the challenging terrain.
Babita Pandey, a resident of Ramnagar, embarked on the Dayara Bugyal trek on May 29. She mysteriously vanished during her trek, prompting a coordinated search involving the district administration, police, and various agencies since the incident was reported. However, over a week later, there has been no sign of her.
Under the guidance of District Magistrate Prashant Arya, the search and rescue operations are ongoing. The administration has established coordination among different departments and agencies to launch a comprehensive search campaign. The Dayara Bugyal area is known for its high mountains, dense forests, deep ravines, and difficult trekking routes, making the search particularly challenging. To enhance the effectiveness of the operation, a trained team from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering has been dispatched to the site and has begun its search efforts.
Multiple agencies, including the NDRF, SDRF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, local police, forest department, revenue department, and the district disaster management authority, are collaboratively conducting the search. Various teams are scouring potential trekking paths, forests, rivers, ravines, and other inaccessible areas.
Authorities assure that no resources are being spared in the search operation, and all available assets are being utilized. The campaign is under constant monitoring, and additional resources will be deployed as needed.
Meanwhile, Babita Pandey’s family remains hopeful for her safe return. The ongoing search has captured the attention of the entire region, with local residents and officials expressing optimism that joint efforts will soon yield significant information about the missing trekker.
