Kolkata, August 12: Jagadguru Ramabhadracharya’s successor, Ramchandra Das, shared his insights on the religious and social landscape of West Bengal on Wednesday. Paying homage to the sacred land of Goddess Kali, he emphasized that Bengal has always been a land of justice, devotion, and knowledge. He referenced Swami Vivekananda, noting that he traveled from this very soil to advocate for Hinduism and India worldwide.
In an interview, Ramchandra Das expressed that during his previous visits to Bengal, he felt as if he had entered a part of his own home where people faced numerous challenges and hardships. He claimed that the Hindu community has encountered difficulties during festivals and religious events. However, on his recent visit, he observed a different atmosphere on the streets of Kolkata. According to him, saffron flags were visible in many parts of the city, which he interprets as a sign of a new beginning.
He criticized the previous government, alleging that Hindus suffered under Mamata Banerjee’s administration. He noted that people are determined to remove such a government and bring Suvendu Adhikari to power. He believes that with Adhikari’s dedication to serving Bengal, the dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’ may once again become a reality.
Addressing the issues of employment and migration, he mentioned that during his two-day stay in Kolkata, he felt the pulse of various local concerns. Many people have been forced to seek jobs in other states due to long-standing neglect. There is a pressing need for employment opportunities for the middle class in the state. He stressed the importance of connecting Bengal to the mainstream of the country and strengthening the Sanatan culture and traditions, allowing Hindus in Bengal to freely and joyfully practice their customs, including the worship of Goddess Kali.
Ramchandra Das also spoke about upcoming religious events, recalling his experiences at the Kumbh Melas in Prayagraj, Ujjain, Nashik, and Haridwar. He announced plans for a grand religious event in Kolkata, featuring a significant Yajna to celebrate the birth anniversary of his Guru, Jagadguru Ramabhadracharya. A large gathering of the Hindu community is expected, and the event aims to reinforce religious and cultural consciousness in Bengal.
