Melbourne, March 4: The Formula One season kicks off this Friday at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, featuring two practice sessions. Another practice session and qualifying will take place on Saturday, followed by the race on Sunday. Organizers have announced that tickets for the season’s opening Formula One Australian Grand Prix have sold out in record time.
According to a report by Xinhua, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and the Victoria state government confirmed that tickets for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are completely sold out, marking a record for ticket sales in the event’s history for the first three days.
Tickets for Thursday are still available, where reigning world champion Lando Norris and his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri will participate in a fan event.
The 2025 Australian Grand Prix was the second most-watched race weekend of the Formula One season, attracting a record crowd of over 465,000 people. Steve Dimopoulos, Victoria’s Minister for Tourism, Sport, and Major Events, stated on Wednesday that the quick sell-out of tickets is a testament to the global appeal of the Australian Grand Prix.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasts no rain for the race on Sunday in Melbourne, with a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. This weekend marks the first event of the 24-round Australian Grand Prix calendar.
Current champion Lando Norris will defend his title for McLaren, while Oscar Piastri aims to make history in front of his home crowd. Piastri is set to become the first Australian driver to achieve a classified podium since the 1985 World Championship event.
Meanwhile, Cadillac will make its debut this weekend, bringing the total to 11 teams and 22 cars on the grid. The American team is relying on experience, as Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez return to the grid after missing the 2025 season.
