India Triumphs Over Pakistan 4-3 in FIH Pro League Comeback

London, June 23: In an exciting match of the FIH Pro League 2025-26, India staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Pakistan 4-3. The match took place at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

India fell behind early when Pakistan’s Nadeem Ahmed scored in the 8th minute. However, the Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, responded fiercely. Abhishek netted a goal in the 21st minute, followed by Neelakanta Sharma in the 24th minute, and Sukjeet Singh in the 34th minute. Rajinder Singh added another in the 52nd minute, solidifying India’s lead.

Pakistan’s goals came from penalty corners, with Abu Mahmood scoring in the 53rd minute and Moin Shakeel in the 60th minute, narrowing the gap. Despite some late mistakes from Craig Fulton’s team, which allowed Pakistan to score twice, India maintained control throughout the match.

India dominated in nearly every aspect of the game, entering the circle 30 times compared to Pakistan’s nine. They earned 11 penalty corners, converting two, while Pakistan scored three from eight corners. This victory continues India’s strong performance on their European tour, following wins against world champions Germany and hosts Netherlands in Rotterdam.

This marks India’s third consecutive win in the Pro League, bringing their total points to 13. They have one shootout win, two draws, and seven losses. In contrast, Pakistan has lost all 13 of their matches.

With this win, India maintains its recent dominance over Pakistan, having not lost to them at either senior or junior levels since 2016. In the recent Under-18 Asia Cup held in Japan, Pakistan’s junior team lost to India 5-3.

Following this victory, India moved up to seventh place in the nine-team points table, surpassing Spain, who has 11 points from 12 matches. Pakistan remains at the bottom with zero points.

India will face host England in their next match on Wednesday, followed by another clash against Pakistan on June 26. They will conclude their FIH Pro League campaign against England on June 29 at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.
