New Delhi, June 23: India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with a US trade delegation led by Jamison Greer to discuss bilateral trade, investment, and new development opportunities.
The Ministry of Finance shared on social media platform ‘X,’ stating, “On Tuesday, Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman engaged in discussions with the US Trade Representative Jamison Greer in New Delhi. Both parties exchanged ideas focused on strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation while exploring new avenues for development.”
Welcoming Greer to India, US Ambassador Sergio Gor posted on ‘X,’ “Welcome to India as you advance your ambitious trade agenda. We are rapidly moving towards finalizing a strong bilateral trade agreement, which will open new economic opportunities for both nations and further strengthen the US-India economic partnership.”
Gor noted that US Trade Representative Greer held several rounds of meetings with India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, during his visit.
Upon Greer’s arrival in India, Minister Goyal expressed his welcome to the US Trade Representative and Ambassador Sergio Gor, stating on social media, “We welcome US Trade Representative Jamison Greer and the US delegation to the Ministry of Commerce in India.”
Greer’s discussions with Piyush Goyal come at a crucial time as both countries aim to finalize the framework for the first phase of the proposed bilateral trade agreement ahead of next month’s significant tariff deadline. These meetings aim to advance the trade agreement before the important tariff timeline comes into effect next month.
