New Cyber Fraud Alert

Jaipur, October 24 (Daily Kiran) β€” The Rajasthan Police Cyber Crime Branch has issued a public advisory warning citizens about a new form of cyber fraud involving fake court summons, warrants, and FIR notices. Cybercriminals are posing as court officials or police officers to intimidate victims and extort money online under the pretext of bail or case settlement.

New Cyber Fraud Alert

According to DIG Cyber Crime Vikas Sharma, the scammers are deceiving people through the following methods:

  1. Threatening Notices: Fraudsters impersonate court officials, police officers, or lawyers to create panic.

  2. Fake Documents: They send digitally signed fake court summons, bail warrants, or FIR notices via social media platforms like WhatsApp and Email.

  3. Online Payment Traps: Victims are pressured to pay bail amounts or β€œcase cancellation fees” through UPI, wallets, or bank transfers to avoid legal trouble.

Safety Guidelines to Prevent Cyber Fraud

The Cyber Crime Branch has shared important precautionary measures to help citizens stay safe:

  1. Verify Authenticity: Always confirm any court summons or warrant by contacting the concerned court or local police station.

  2. Avoid Suspicious Links: Do not click on links received through social media or email claiming to be official notices.

  3. Never Pay Online: Avoid transferring any money online for bail, legal fees, or settlement requests from unknown sources.

  4. Check Documents Carefully: Examine any suspicious document, link, or video call for authenticity before responding.

  5. Protect Personal Data: Never share sensitive details like Aadhaar number, bank account information, or OTPs with anyone.

Report Cyber Fraud Immediately

DIG Vikas Sharma urged citizens to report any such incident immediately to the nearest police station or cyber police station, or through the official channels:

The police have appealed to the public to stay alert, remain cautious while handling online communications, and verify all legal notices from authentic sources before taking any action.
