Security Forces Destroy Bunkers and Seize Weapons in Manipur

Imphal, April 3: Manipur police and security forces conducted active operations across various regions of the state on Friday, seizing numerous weapons, ammunition, and other suspicious materials. Additionally, three bunkers were destroyed during these operations.

Initially, in the Upokpi Khunou Mamang Leikai and surrounding Loktak Lake area (Bishnupur PS, Bishnupur district), security forces recovered a pistol, three cartridges, a single-barrel gun, a hand grenade, five cartridges, and a blank round.

On the same day, in the Satang Hill Range of Imphal East district, security forces destroyed three bunkers. This action aimed to enhance security and control illegal activities in the area. Furthermore, approximately 3.5 kilograms of WY tablets were seized from the Home Guard Veng area in Moreh PS of Tengnoupal district.

In the Dampi Ridge area of Churachandpur district, security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. This included two 12-bore rifles, two front-loaded single-barrel rifles, a modified AK-47, two 9mm pistols, three magazines for different weapons, four pump-action shotguns, 81 cartridges, two bulletproof vests, two walkie-talkies, and one kilogram of pump explosive pellets.

Security forces continue to conduct operations to maintain regional dominance and search efforts in the hill and valley areas of the state. During this period, the movement of 290 vehicles carrying essential goods was ensured along NH-37, with security convoys provided at sensitive locations.

A total of 116 naka/check posts were established across the state, covering both hill and valley regions. However, no vehicles or individuals were stopped at these checkpoints. Such measures not only help control illegal activities but also ensure the safe movement of citizens and essential goods.

Security forces are consistently monitoring and conducting search operations in the state’s fringe and sensitive areas. The primary objectives of these operations are to recover illegal weapons and ammunition, maintain law and order, and ensure the safety of the general public.
