Rain Alert in Eight Rajasthan Districts, Knee-Deep Water on Jodhpur Streets

Jaipur, 28 August (Kiran News). The monsoon remains active in Rajasthan, with heavy rain continuing to lash southern districts. On Thursday, the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for rain in eight districts: Banswara, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Sirohi, Jalore, and Pratapgarh.

On Wednesday, several districts, including Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur, received heavy rainfall. In Jodhpur, streets were flooded with knee-deep water, causing motorcycles to get stuck and several vehicles to be swept away. In Jalore’s Lotra, a Bolero was washed away in the Luni river on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a mother and her two daughters. Meanwhile, in Sukri river, the bodies of four out of six youths who were swept away on Tuesday were recovered on Wednesday. In Jasnagar, Nagaur, traffic was diverted on National Highway-458 as the Luni river overflowed above the bridge.

According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, light to moderate, and at some places heavy, rainfall is likely to continue in southern Rajasthan for the next 2–3 days. This weather pattern may persist into the first week of September. Several districts received rainfall on Wednesday, with the highest 34 mm recorded in Salumber, Udaipur. Rain was also recorded in Jaipur, Karauli, Pratapgarh, Jhunjhunu, Jhalawar, Bhilwara, Ajmer, and Banswara.

So far this season, Rajasthan has received an average rainfall of 546.3 mm, compared to the usual 350 mm. On Wednesday, Jaisalmer was the hottest district with a maximum temperature of 37.7°C. Barmer also recorded 37°C. Nasirabad was the coldest, with a minimum temperature of just 17.9°C. Jaipur recorded a maximum of 33.3°C and a minimum of 25.5°C.
