Jaipur, August 3 – The intensity of heavy rainfall in Rajasthan has decreased, giving way to rising heat and humidity across the state. On Saturday, skies remained mostly clear in several districts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions, allowing sunlight to break through and increase the discomfort due to humidity.

A yellow alert for rainfall has been issued for 9 districts today (Sunday): Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli, Dholpur, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur.

On Saturday, light rain was recorded in parts of Sriganganagar, Churu, Kota, Pilani, and Jaipur. In Bikaner’s Nokha area, two houses collapsed after rain, though a woman and three children narrowly escaped unhurt. In Hanumangarh’s Goluwala (Sihagan), a house partially collapsed during rain, but the affected part was unoccupied.

In Nagaur, a Scorpio vehicle was swept away and submerged in the Luni river due to heavy flow. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Baran’s Chhipabarod received the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, recording 24 mm. Other recorded rainfall figures include 14 mm in Lalgarh (Ganganagar), 10 mm each in Kotdi (Bhilwara) and Fefana (Hanumangarh), 6 mm each in Malsisar and Pilani (Jhunjhunu), 6 mm in Malarna Dungar (Sawai Madhopur), and 9.6 mm in Kota.

According to weather experts, the monsoon trough has shifted north from its normal position and currently passes through Firozpur, Ambala, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, and Gorakhpur. Due to this shift, Rajasthan is likely to witness lighter rainfall activity over the coming days.

91% Above Normal Rainfall Recorded So Far

Rajasthan has received 91% more rainfall than average this monsoon season. From June 1 to August 1, the state normally receives 221.4 mm of rainfall, but this year it has already received 422.7 mm.
