Punjab Police Assistance Now Available in Just Six Minutes: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann

Sangrur, March 31: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Tuesday that police assistance in the state will now be available within just six minutes. He stated that this initiative will match the standards seen in developed regions like the United States and Europe. The Chief Minister flagged off 508 emergency response vehicles in Sangrur, aimed at strengthening the police system at the grassroots level across the state.

After launching the 508 emergency response vehicles, Chief Minister Mann emphasized that these vehicles are equipped with modern technology and will be deployed across all 28 police districts under the Dial 112 service. This initiative will ensure immediate police assistance during emergencies and enhance technology-based policing.

He revealed that over the past four years, an investment of ₹327.70 crore has been made in police vehicles. This investment has strengthened law and order and increased the crackdown on drug traffickers. The improved security environment has also boosted investor confidence, exemplified by the establishment of Tata Steel’s second-largest plant in Punjab.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mann urged the public to socially ostracize those involved in the drug trade. He stated, “There should be no leniency towards those who are ruining generations. Social ostracism will help make Punjab drug-free.”

He noted that the Punjab government has already taken stringent actions against drug trafficking, achieving a conviction rate of up to 87%, which is higher than in other states. He described the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign as the largest operation to date, stating that it has dismantled drug networks, disrupted supply chains, and imprisoned major traffickers.

The Chief Minister mentioned that a comprehensive strategy has been developed to turn this campaign into a people’s movement, emphasizing the need for active public participation. He highlighted that, unlike previous governments, the Aam Aadmi Party government has taken strict measures against traffickers instead of promoting them.

In addressing the challenge of ‘drug terrorism,’ Mann stated that the Punjab Police is monitoring cross-border smuggling and ensuring the safety of citizens. He referred to administrative reforms, noting that for the first time, reforms are starting from the grassroots level, providing vehicles not only to senior officials but also to station heads.

He concluded by stating that the greatest indicator of law and order in any state is the level of investment, and the establishment of Tata Steel’s second-largest plant in Punjab is proof that investor confidence is on the rise.
