Chandigarh, August 9: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has written to Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, requesting a 10-day parole for Jagat Singh Hawara. The Chief Minister made this appeal on humanitarian grounds, citing the deteriorating health of Hawara’s elderly mother.
In his letter, Mann stated that he has received information regarding the serious health issues faced by Hawara’s mother due to her advanced age. Her condition has been worsening consistently.
The letter also mentioned that Jagat Singh Hawara had previously sought parole from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which has directed that his request be considered.
Mann urged the Governor to grant Hawara the 10-day parole as soon as possible, taking into account the humanitarian aspects and the poor health of his mother.
Malwinder Singh Kang, a Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party representing Anandpur Sahib, has also expressed support for CM Mann’s letter and hopes for the Governor’s approval.
Kang wrote on the social media platform X, “I wholeheartedly support Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann‘s appeal for a 10-day parole for brother Jagat Singh Hawara, so he can be with his ailing and elderly mother, whose health is deteriorating. This is not a political issue but a matter of empathy, respect, and the sanctity of the mother-son relationship.”
He further stated that he has personally met Hawara’s mother and witnessed the silent suffering of an elderly woman separated from her son for an extended period. Regardless of the circumstances, human suffering should be approached with empathy and sensitivity.
The AAP MP expressed hope that the Governor of Punjab will consider this appeal with the same humanitarian spirit in which it was made. Compassion should take precedence in matters of humanity.
