Raipur, 25 August (Kiran News). The Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana is bringing significant changes in the lives of consumers. Electricity users across the state are coming forward to take advantage of this scheme. Ramesh Sahu, a resident of Koni village in Bilaspur district, installed a 3-kilowatt solar panel on the roof of his house under this scheme. As a result, his electricity bill has dropped to zero. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister for this innovative scheme.
Ramesh Sahu shared that his household electricity consumption was quite high, leading to a heavy monthly bill. After learning about the Suryaghar Yojana, he installed a 3-kilowatt solar panel at a cost of around ₹2 lakh. He has already received a subsidy of ₹78,000 from the Central Government, and is soon expected to get an additional ₹30,000 subsidy from the State Government. He said he is now free from the worry of electricity bills, as he does not have to pay any charges. With a one-time investment, he is assured of electricity supply for 25 years without significant maintenance costs. He also mentioned that surplus electricity can be supplied to the grid, providing an opportunity for extra income. He described the scheme as a big step towards environmental protection and energy self-reliance, and urged others to take benefit of this scheme and adopt solar energy to become self-sufficient in electricity.
It is notable that under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana, consumers can receive up to ₹78,000 in subsidy from the Central Government and up to ₹30,000 from the State Government for installing solar panels. Additionally, the government provides 300 units of free electricity per month. The scheme allows installation of rooftop solar panels, enabling consumers to supply excess power to the grid and become electricity producers. There is also a loan provision under the scheme, allowing users to receive free and continuous electricity for up to 25 years with a one-time investment.
