Indian Foreign Minister Expresses Condolences Over Tragic Incident in Qatar

New Delhi, June 23: A tragic incident in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar, has resulted in the deaths of 12 Indian nationals. The Indian Embassy in Doha confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the affected families. India’s Foreign Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, also expressed his sorrow over the event.

Dr. Jaishankar took to social media platform X, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the explosion in Ras Laffan Industrial City, which has resulted in the deaths and injuries of several individuals, including Indian citizens. As more information comes to light, our embassy is in contact with Qatari authorities and is working to assist the families of the affected Indian nationals. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.”

Officials from the Indian Embassy in Doha reiterated the confirmation on X, stating, “The unfortunate loss of 12 Indian citizens occurred during the incident on Sunday night in Ras Laffan Industrial City. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased during this difficult time and pray for the peace of the departed souls.”

The embassy officials reported that all injured individuals are currently in stable condition and receiving proper medical care. They are in continuous contact with Qatari authorities to provide all possible assistance to the affected Indian citizens and their families, including arrangements for the repatriation of the deceased’s bodies to India.

On Sunday night, an explosion occurred in one of the world’s most critical energy hubs, Ras Laffan Industrial Area, while efforts were underway to resume operations at the facility. Following the incident, a significant fire broke out at the Barzan gas supply facility, prompting emergency response teams to arrive promptly at the scene.
