
Lucknow, June 23: A devastating fire broke out at a private coaching center in the Puraniya area of Aliganj, Lucknow, on Monday, resulting in the tragic deaths of 15 individuals. In response to this incident, the government has intensified its actions, filing serious charges against those responsible.
An FIR has been registered against four named individuals, including the building owner, along with other unidentified suspects. The charges fall under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), specifically sections 105, 110, 125, and 3(5).
Following the fire incident in Lucknow, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has also become proactive. The KDA has initiated legal actions against coaching institutes and other commercial establishments. In four zones of Kanpur, 22 establishments have been identified for action, with five of them sealed by KDA officials. The operation continued late into the night.
On the previous day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the site to assess the situation and met with the injured individuals at the hospital.
The Chief Minister canceled his scheduled programs to visit the scene. He reviewed the rescue and relief operations and instructed that the injured receive the best possible medical care. He emphasized that the government’s top priority is to provide optimal medical facilities to the victims. The cause of the incident will be determined after the investigation report is released.
After inspecting the site, the Chief Minister proceeded to the KGMU Trauma Center, where he interacted with the injured victims.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reported that 14 children lost their lives in the incident, while four injured children were admitted to the KGMU Trauma Center. He confirmed that orders for a high-level investigation into the matter have been issued. The injured are currently receiving treatment at the King George Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Center.
KGMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Sonia Nityanand stated that a full medical team is dedicated to saving the injured from the Aliganj fire. She mentioned that the necessary procedures for conducting post-mortems and preparing the documentation for the deceased have already begun.
