Political Unity Essential for Restoring Jammu and Kashmirs Statehood: Satish Sharma

Jammu, June 7: Political discussions have intensified in Jammu and Kashmir following the recent meeting of National Conference legislators, particularly regarding the absence of the Congress party. Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma responded by emphasizing the need for all political parties to unite in the demand for restoring statehood.

Sharma stated that this is not the time for political divisions but rather a moment to come together for a common goal. He clarified that there is no distance being maintained between the government and the parties, urging everyone to collaborate in reclaiming the rights that were taken away from the state. The minister called upon Congress and other parties to join this effort.

He noted that the issue of statehood has previously been raised in the assembly, and the restoration of statehood has always been a priority for the government. Although delays have occurred due to rain, security situations, and other circumstances, the goal remains clear, and the government is working towards it.

Referencing historical figures such as Maharaja Hari Singh, Maharaja Gulab Singh, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Sharma remarked that their contributions would be truly honored only when the state’s identity and pride are reestablished.

He appealed to all political parties to unite in raising this issue, ensuring that the voices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are heard strongly. He emphasized that this struggle is not just for one party but for the entire region’s populace.

The minister also highlighted the necessity of including all communities in Jammu and Kashmir, such as Dogras, Gujjars, and others, to strengthen social and political unity. He mentioned that the region has always been a symbol of diversity and unity. When states in different parts of the country raise their demands, all parties stand together; similarly, a unified approach should be adopted for Jammu and Kashmir.

In light of current global and political conditions, Sharma urged society to rise above caste and religion. He acknowledged that political differences may exist, but everyone must come together on a single platform regarding Jammu and Kashmir’s future.
