Northern Kashmir DIG Reviews Security Measures in Uri Subdivision

Baramulla, June 16: The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Northern Kashmir conducted a review of police and security arrangements in the Uri subdivision on Tuesday, accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Baramulla.

During the visit, inspections were carried out at the Boniyar police station, Uri police station, and the Udusa police post. The review focused on various aspects, including crime and investigation work, law and order management, operational readiness, record maintenance, and other facets of daily policing. Officials were briefed on ongoing initiatives and given directives to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

The DIG also visited the NHPC Jingle and chaired a security review meeting concerning the Uri-Prathan and Uri-Second hydroelectric projects. Security arrangements at key installations, including the Boniyar barrage, the Salamabad dam site, and NHPC residential colonies, were assessed. The discussions emphasized access control measures, surveillance systems, emergency response mechanisms, and inter-agency coordination for the protection of critical infrastructure.

Following this, a coordination meeting was held with the commander of the 12th Infantry Brigade in Uri, where the current security situation and the functioning of security arrangements were discussed. Matters related to coordination, information sharing, and operational preparedness were also deliberated.

The DIG visited the command post, where a joint assessment of the existing security arrangements for tourists and visitors was conducted with relevant agencies.

The tour concluded with a review of measures aimed at maintaining effective coordination among security agencies and ensuring preparedness to address emerging security and law-and-order challenges in the region.
