
Evian, June 17: U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a bilateral discussion before a working lunch with G7 leaders, outreach partners, and top executives from leading technology companies.
During their meeting, the two leaders will address topics such as economic growth, supply chains, artificial intelligence (AI), investment partnerships, and various global security challenges.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Modi and Trump greeted each other during an outreach session at the G7 summit held in Evian, France.
Before the G7 working session themed “Building New Partnerships and Restoring International Solidarity,” both leaders shook hands and engaged in brief conversation. Representatives from G7 nations, partner countries, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank will participate in this session.
The White House announced on Saturday that this meeting will take place as both leaders join a working lunch with G7 leaders, outreach partners, and key figures from the technology sector.
Upon arriving in Evian, PM Modi expressed his excitement about meeting world leaders and discussing critical global issues.
He wrote on social media platform ‘X’, “I have arrived in Evian, France, for the G7 summit. I look forward to engaging with world leaders and discussing important global issues. India is committed to advancing collective efforts for a more sustainable and prosperous world.”
India has been invited as a partner country to the 52nd G7 summit, taking place from June 15 to 17. During the summit, PM Modi will discuss significant issues related to India and the interests of the ‘Global South’ with world leaders. This marks India’s 13th participation in the G7 summit and PM Modi’s seventh consecutive attendance.
Outreach sessions of the G7 summit are scheduled for June 16 and 17, where PM Modi will engage with leaders from other invited countries. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the main focus of discussions will be on strengthening international partnerships and solidarity for development, promoting inclusive and balanced growth, and the effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
The Ministry stated, “India’s regular participation in the G7 summit reflects the growing recognition of its role and contribution in addressing global challenges related to peace, security, development, and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, India has consistently highlighted the priorities, concerns, and developmental aspirations of the ‘Global South’ at international forums such as the G7, G20, and the ‘Voice of Global South Summit’.”
