Lucknow, June 18: O.P. Rajbhar, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and leader of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has claimed that a significant split is imminent within the Samajwadi Party (SP). He stated that a member from the ‘rebel land’ of Uttar Pradesh will lead the faction of dissenting SP MPs. Rajbhar also suggested that Akhilesh Yadav should initiate a campaign to save his MPs.
Following his assertion that leaders in Uttar Pradesh may soon switch allegiances, reminiscent of the political shifts seen in West Bengal and Maharashtra, Rajbhar took to the social media platform X on Thursday. He wrote, “Since Wednesday, everyone has been asking if there will be a split in the SP. So listen, a member from the ‘rebel land’ of Uttar Pradesh will lead the faction of dissenting MPs.”
Rajbhar elaborated on the reasons for the anticipated split, citing an incident where Brahmins were insulted during a conference at the SP office. He stated, “The way Brahmins were disrespected at the SP office on Wednesday has hurt the ‘rebel Ballia’ deeply. This was pre-planned, but the incident yesterday added fuel to the fire. A split is inevitable.”
Targeting Akhilesh Yadav and his family, Rajbhar remarked, “Given how the entire Saifai clan has been busy hurling abuses at me over my single response, it would be better for Akhilesh Babu to abandon his Twitter antics and start a campaign to save his MPs. He should also visit the homes of distressed MPs and apologize.”
Earlier, Rajbhar had claimed that political upheaval akin to that in West Bengal and Maharashtra could soon unfold in Uttar Pradesh, as internal divisions within the Samajwadi Party are expected to lead several MPs to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In an interview, Rajbhar indicated that many leaders from the main opposition party are poised to switch sides. He referenced a letter written by senior SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav to Home Minister Amit Shah, suggesting it confirms the potential for upcoming defections.
Additionally, on Thursday, Rajbhar raised questions regarding the SP’s ‘PDA’ (People’s Democratic Alliance). He stated, “Will the PDA not release its second installment of ‘Peechhe Dega Aheer’ and ‘Peechhe Dega Alpasankhyak’ (SP)? Will it not publicly address the atrocities committed by SP Yadavs and SP Muslims against Dalits zone-wise and by commissionerate? If so, that is your misunderstanding.”
Rajbhar also released statistics from several districts, alleging that Yadavs and Muslims have perpetrated unchecked brutality against Dalits. He concluded his post by asserting, “It is not that they are escaping unpunished for these crimes. The UP police are appropriately addressing the situation.”
