Azamgarh, June 18: Om Prakash Rajbhar, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government and the national president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has made significant claims regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global image, potential fractures within the Samajwadi Party (SP), and ongoing political developments. In an interview with a news agency on Thursday, he described PM Modi as a leader who promotes peace, cooperation, and trade partnerships on a global scale, while also commenting sharply on the future of the SP.
Rajbhar commended PM Modi’s foreign policy and international popularity, noting that his recognition by 32 countries is a testament to his global acceptance and leadership skills. He emphasized that wherever PM Modi goes, he carries a message of peace, cooperation, and development. Rajbhar stated that PM Modi believes in enhancing mutual trade and cooperation among nations. He argued that if a country produces goods that India needs, there should be an exchange, and essential goods manufactured in India should be made available to other countries. He asserted that war hinders the development of any nation, making it crucial to foster an environment of global cooperation and goodwill.
Responding to discussions about a possible split in the SP, Rajbhar supported Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s claim about the likelihood of several SP MPs switching sides. He alleged that increasing scrutiny of various cases and alleged scams has created unease among SP leaders. Referring to the Gomti mining scam and the Gomti River Front project, he noted that ongoing investigations have led to discomfort within the party. Rajbhar also claimed that senior SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav has submitted a list to Union Home Minister Amit Shah of those leaders who may leave the party in the future.
He further stated, “Forget the elections in 2027; there will be a significant political upheaval before the session even begins. The SP will not return to power by 2047; mark my words.”
In response to allegations of corruption in transfers and postings made by Akhilesh Yadav against the state government, Rajbhar reacted sharply. He clarified that transfers and postings are handled at the officials’ level, not by ministers. He challenged those making accusations to clarify their financial status and the sources of their wealth. He questioned the origins of assets worth thousands of crores if there were no irregularities in the alleged mining scam, laptop scam, and Gomti River Front case. He also inquired about the funding for travel on special charter planes.
When asked about the investigation into the Ram Mandir donation scandal, Rajbhar stated that those questioning him should first address incidents within their own community. He mentioned serious allegations against SP supporters related to incidents in Mau and Barabanki, including the murder of a member of the Rajbhar community. He reaffirmed his stance, insisting that he stands firmly by his statements.
Regarding the delimitation and constitutional amendments, Rajbhar expressed confidence that any bills presented by the central government in the upcoming monsoon session would pass in Parliament. He asserted that the government has sufficient support and that the public backs decisions related to development.
Commenting on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Rajbhar criticized him for questioning India’s constitutional institutions and democratic framework while abroad. He suggested that if opposition leaders do not trust the Election Commission, they should resign from their positions.
