Riyadh, June 26: The outgoing Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Suhail Khan, met with Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Thursday to discuss the strengthening bilateral ties between India and Saudi Arabia.
The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia shared on social media, stating, “Ambassador Dr. Suhail Khan had a farewell meeting with His Excellency Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the Riyadh Imarah.”
During the meeting, the ambassador expressed gratitude for the support received throughout his tenure. He also thanked the governor for his ongoing assistance and care for the Indian community residing in Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador Suhail Khan’s term is nearing its end. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced the appointment of Vipul, a 1998 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, as the next ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
On Wednesday, Ambassador Khan also met with Iyad Abdulmalik Alalshaikh, the General Executive Director of the Saudi Ministry of Defense. They discussed ways to enhance defense cooperation and expand partnerships in new areas.
The Indian Embassy highlighted on the social media platform X, “Ambassador Dr. Suhail Khan met with Iyad Abdulmalik Alalshaikh. Discussions focused on strengthening defense cooperation and exploring new collaborative areas. This dialogue reflects the shared commitment to advance the strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia, seek new opportunities, and further solidify bilateral relations in the coming years.”
Additionally, in Jeddah, India’s Consul General Fahad Ahmed Suri met with Ibrahim bin Said Al-Subhi, the Director General of the Madinah branch of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They discussed enhancing India-Saudi relations, issues concerning the Indian diaspora, and other mutual interests.
